Principal Councils are Counties and Districts, Unitaries and ‘Mets’. They can be very large organisations with vast budgets and a huge force for good in the local community.
Much officer time these days is spent aiming for central government targets and measuring their Council’s success against those targets. Some national newspapers believe that all councils should be the same and complain of a Postcode Lottery if the bins are emptied more often in WC2 than in NR13. For our part, we believe in local democracy.
